Thursday, November 11th, 2004Digitisation – The life-cycle approach\r\n\r\nFollowing the lead of the nof-digitise technical standards and guidelines, Gathering the Jewels advocates a life-cycle approach to digitisation. The stages of the life-cycle may include Creation – Development – Management – Access – Use/Re-use – Preservation. This emphasises the importance of seeing the project as a whole, and how decisions taken at given stages have implications for the rest of the process. This document concentrates on the creation and management stages but the whole life-cycle is considered in decisions relating to these two stages.\r\n (more…)
