The bronze statue was made by James Done, and it is nine feet tall. The statue was unveiled by the actor Sir Anthony Hopkins. He was wearing a red fez as he said ‘I am delighted to be unveiling a statue which will commemorate not just one of my heroes, but one of the greatest comics of all time.’

Tommy Cooper died of a heart attack after collapsing while performing on stage in 1984.
